The history of rice, from its origins to the present day, the current state of the international market, the stages of rice processing and the machinery involved are no longer a secret for the visitors who took part in the exclusive guided tours of the Mundi Riso facilities. The initiative was welcomed with great enthusiasm as part of Settimana del Riso 2026, the event held from February 24th to March 1st celebrating the deep connection between Vercelli and its symbolic product.
An entire week dedicated to promoting the rice sector and the local food and wine culture, bringing together institutions, industry professionals and citizens.
Organized by Confagricoltura Vercelli and Biella, ANGA Vercelli and Biella, together with the Municipality and the Province, the event followed Fiera in Campo 2026, confirming its role as a key occasion for the rice sector. The Risotto Days, promoted by Fipe-Ascom, enlivened restaurants and dining tables across the province, while museums and iconic locations throughout the city – from Museo Archeologico to Museo Borgogna, Museo Leone and Museo del Tesoro del Duomo – welcomed numerous visitors with dedicated cultural tours.
Among the most significant moments of the week were the guided tours of the Vercelli Borsa Merci (commodity exchange) and the Mundi Riso facilities, which recorded excellent attendance on Tuesday, February 24th and Wednesday, February 25th.
On this special occasion, Mundi Riso opened its doors to the public, guiding visitors through the journey of the rice grain within its facilities. After an introductory session providing a broader overview of the rice industry, the tour continued with visits to the company’s key operational areas.
Participants had the opportunity to explore the rice mill and the refining stage, the packaging department, where products are prepared for shipment, and the analysis laboratory, where quality and safety are constantly monitored at every stage – from the arrival of the paddy rice to the final packaged product.
The tours provided a valuable opportunity to share the company’s daily work, its attention to traceability and the commitment to excellence that characterizes every stage of the supply chain.
Mundi Riso would like to thank everyone who participated with curiosity and interest. Sharing our work with the local community is always a source of pride and an incentive to continue promoting the value of Italian rice every day.
